What: The Health Activist Awards 2011 - a program created to reward Health Activists for their accomplishments.
Why: To recognize well-known Health Activists for their continue efforts and to showcase inspirational newcomers.
When: Nominations will officially begin December 1st, 2011. Winners will be announced in January 2012.
How: We'll take nomainations from the entire health community through the end of December 2011. A panel of Health Activists and WEGO Health Team members will then review nominations to pick winners. Want to be on our Awards Judging Panel? Apply here!
Every Health Activist Award recipient will receive a customized Health Activist Toolkit filled with a
collection of rewards geared to their Health Activism.
Who can win a Health Activist Award?
Any Health Activist in any health focus or condition who participates in advocacy. Not sure if you or your nominee is a Health Activist? Take our quick quiz to find out.
How do I nominate someone?
Go to our 2011 Health Activist Awards page, there you’ll see a list of the awards. Simply click the award you want to nominate someone for – and you’ll be taken to a nomination form. Once you finish nominating your favorite Health Activist - feel free to share the nomination with your community or tweet with the hashtag #HAAwards!
Can I nominate myself?
Of course. We hope you’ll reach out to your community and ask them to nominate their favorite members of the online health world – and that includes you.
How does someone win?
After all our nominations are in and reviewed – a panel of Health Activists and WEGO Health team members will vote on the submissions. Each individual judging panel of 3 Health Activists and 1 WEGO Health team member will select the winner of the award they have been assigned. Want to be a judge of the Health Activist Awards? Each winner will receive a Health Activist Awards 2011 – Prize Pack consisting of the following:

And - as a winner of a Health Activist Award, you’ll also be a VIP go-to for us to test new projects, programs, and events. Consider yourself in-the-know and one-of-the-elite. We’ll ask you first and give you opportunities before everyone else in 2012!
Will I be able to see if I am nominated?
After all of the winners are announced, we will be releasing a list of nominees and honorable mentions.
Do I have to have thousands of followers/readers/blog posts/etc to win?
No. Any Health Activist no matter where they are on their journey is eligible to win. In fact, we have a few awards tailored specifically to Health Activists who got started this year!
Can I tell the person I nominated about the nomination?
That is entirely up to you! If you'd like to share your nomination with the nominee, your community, or others - go for it. We hope to receive a bunch of nominations and a great way to inspire people to get involved is by sharing how you got involved. If you'd rather keep your nomination anonymous - simply check the box at the bottom of the nomination form. We will share nominations and honorable mentions in January after we announce the Awards winners.
